1. THE OUTER SHELL

Once the criminals have made it onto your grounds, one key barrier has already been surmounted. Infrared beams detect intruders at the perimeter of your property. Ground sensors are an invisible alternative for locating trespassers.

"These criminals are pros. They recognize dummy cameras immediatly."

2. NOBODY NEEDS TO KNOW WHO LIVES HERE

Any information revealing your name or status should be neutralised on letter boxes or signs. Even initials are too much information. Instruct the Post Office and choose a neutral form of identification such as “C1” or similar.

3. ALARM SYSTEMS ON ALL FLOORS

Intruders often gain access to large, detached properties via upper floors or the roof. You should therefore make sure that modern alarm systems are installed on EVERY floor. Get professional advice

4. SEND LIGHT SIGNALS

Have an automatically controlled light switch system installed. This serves as an additional deterrent for potential criminals, because they cannot be sure whether anyone is at home

5. THE SAFE ROOM

Have a safe room (also known as a panic room) set up in a strategically favourable location within the home. In an emergency, all occupants of the home should have the shortest route to it. This secure room buys you time until help arrives in the form of the police, for example.

6. FOG THE SENSES

The fog screen system remains a very much unknown yet highly effective way of warding off criminals who are already in the home. If the criminal is ‘blind’, they cannot proceed with their plan. Such a system can be installed inconspicuously

7. STRONG WINDOWS

Impact-resistant film on the windows should actually be standard – but it is generally not fitted. Such film can easily be fitted to the windows by a professional.
